Very slick, very intuitive, very useful. But it was necessary to jailbreak to be able to install the most important app, i.e. "backgrounder".

Now I can listen to Spotify while checking my mail, or download my latest podcasts while using Safari.

Nokia PC Suite

With a new laptop, usually the first thing I do is to pair my bluetooth-enabled phones with the computer - also a way to check that the bluetooth stack is correctly installed.

However, be careful if you later decide to install Nokia PC Suite or Ovi Suite. Since your Nokia phone is already paired, the Nokia bluetooth drivers will not be correctly installed, and you will end up with three unknown devices in Device Manager (bluetooth peripheral device drivers).

The solution is to unpair your Nokia phone, then start the PC Suite and choose bluetooth connection from within that software. This will initiate the pairing using the code "123", and at the same time correctly install the necessary drivers.

Lenovo S10e

So I finally decided I needed a netbook as well. The S10e seems to be the best of the current offerings here in Sweden, with Win XP Home, 160GB WD Scorpio Blue harddisk, bluetooth, and a 6-cell battery.

I bought it just before Christmas and on Christmas day I couldn't be patient with the fan noise anymore. After some investigation I came to the conclusion that a fan is really not necessary on an Atom N270 equipped netbook, the passive cooling of the processor should be enough.

So I opened the case, located the fan and simply cut the red power cable going into the fan!

I have now been using a fanless S10e for almost two weeks and it's a sheer joy!

The core temperature hovers around 70 degrees Celsius most of the time, not enough to make the keyboard uncomfortably hot. Even the back doesn't get that hot, I can still keep it in my lap if I want.
